Description

This replica of the Tarocco Bolognese, also known as the Tarocchino De Mitelli, was published in 2017 by Meneghello of Italy in a limited, numbered edition of 1000 decks. The 62 black & white cards are a facsimile of a deck originally created circa 1660-65 by Giuseppe Maria Mitelli, for the Bentivoglio noble family of Bologna.

This copy has been colorized by watercolor artist Annette Lobis by hand much as was done in the 17th through 19th century. Title card is signed by the artist whose initials appear on the hand painted box top.

This new 2017 edition includes a 16 page booklet in English and Italian (8 pages each) with a brief bio of Mitelli and the history and description of the cards and the symbols depicted

The entire deck is untitled, with Roman numbers shown on Aces and Sword cards. All 22 Trump cards are included, though with some interesting variations on the traditional symbols, that hearken back to an older Renaissance symbology. Thick card stock is a smooth cream.

Packaged in a telescoping two-part box with card on front and Meneghello's signature wax seal.

Card Dimensions:
2 5/8" x 5 1/2" x .017"
