78 exquisite hand-drawn pen & ink illustrations by Italian artist Marco Proietto closely following the RWS iconography with character detail on the level of a Durer engraving. The figures have more depth and stronger personalities than the Pamela Smith paintings with more nuanced and individualized expression. In some respects, the absence of color engenders a more powerful presence for each symbolic scenario.
